World Champ Pierre-Ambroise Bosse Brutally Assaulted By Men Posing As Fans

Pierre-Ambroise Bosse, the newly crowned world champion over 800m, announced on Wednesday morning that he will end his season prematurely after being assaulted while on holiday in the south of France last weekend.

The incident happened at 4 a.m. on Sunday morning in the parking lot of a casino in Gujan-Mestras, according to the French news outlet Sud-Ouest. Three men approached Bosse and his friends and asked to take a photo with the world champion athlete. He obliged and they "brutally assaulted" him in the face and body.

Bosse posted the following message on social media today (translated to English from French via Facebook):

"Good evening, everyone.
Last Saturday I was a victim of a violent assault following a crowd movement.
3 people brutally assaulted me.
The Consequences:
-multiple fractures to the face
-many days of ITT (Total Inability To Work)
-unspeakable moral damage.
An investigation is underway. For all these reasons, my season stops from this day!
I've always loved people. I love three less today.
