A humanoid robot developed by China’s Beijing Innovation Centre of Humanoid Robotics ran 100 meters in 9.39 seconds on Saturday, beating the human world record held by Jamaican sprinting great Usain Bolt.

The performance surpassed the 9.58-second men's 100-meter world record set by Bolt at the World Athletics Championships in Berlin in 2009.

BEIJING, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) — A humanoid robot clocked 9.39 seconds to beat the men’s 100m world record of 9.58 seconds during the opening ceremony of the second edition of the World Humanoid Robot Games at the National Speed Skating Oval in Beijing on Saturday.
The men’s 100m world record is 9.58 seconds, set by Usain Bolt in Berlin in 2009.
